World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade of an item allows players to increase the gear score of an item to 700 and add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you take them to the kiln.
Certain items can be upp'd for their unique stats (like a perfectly rolled breakpoint armour used in melee PvP) and others, like weapons, don't change much post upgrade, so they aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to increase their numeric stats such as the chance to crit, attack damage, PvE and damage to PvP. They also have an unchanging bonus that increases their damage per second. A lot of weapons also come with an unaffected bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are used in a unit. In certain instances, this bonus could amount to more than the amount of damage a weapon is able to upgrade on its own.
The cost of upgrading a weapon varies on its rarity and level. For instance, an upgrade to a +2 weapon requires two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade the weapon will continue to increase until it requires the higher level of Smithing Stones, at which point it will reset to one.
Upgraded weapons can also alter their base stats. While this is usually an excellent thing but it can also have negative consequences as well. In the case of items that are only used in a particular build (Whistant's shield for FB Sorcs, for example) upgrading them could render them useless unless you get a lucky roll.
The ability to upgrade armor items to improve their performance. item upgrade can boost the defense base of a helm or chest, while belts and gloves can boost their strength and agility. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it may reduce its value.
The upgrade template for a weapon will display the new stats that it will gain upon upgrading, along with their respective values. This means that an upgrade from an 8 attack-damage sword to an 11 attack-damage sword will result in a weapon gaining 33% attack damage. The 3% does not mean that the weapon will strike 3 times less, as it is an absolute number.
A weapon can also be rerolled using the green button that has circular arrows within the menu for items. This will roll the item and change its stats, however, it will not reset the weapon's levels or tie it to the account status.
Armor
Adding a few upgrades to your armor could make a huge differences in your ability to survive. Certain sets provide massive boosts to poison or curse, fire, and magic resistance, which makes traversing tough areas a breeze. In general, the greater defense your character is, the more value you get out of each point of health you have and it's crucial to upgrade your armor as often as you can.
To improve your armor, head to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four of them and each one requires you to complete a unique side quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed the main side quest and completed the fountain that corresponds, you can then talk to any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrade menu.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels and the amount of materials and Rupees required to complete each will vary. You'll need anywhere between three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade your first armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade the next one. The Champion Leathers, for instance, can be upgraded to a 5 defense rating, which allows you to remain competitive in frigid environments with a lot of foes. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other side, can be upgraded as high as +20 defense so that you're able to withstand a rout with your friends.
Note that armor can't be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll need to focus on enhancing it to increase physical power if you're Warrior or Spell Power in the case of a Mage. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades to use for armor you'll still be wearing at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you'll wear to fight the final boss and the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town, you can gain some benefits to your armor. You'll typically want to keep these upgrades for the weapon that you'll use to beat the game. For instance, the Longsword or Battleaxe. However, it's beneficial to have some upgrades to the armor on your chest and helmets to allow you to escape some monsters.
Potions
Potions are bottled substances that, when consumed, give the player a temporary status effect. There are five kinds of potions with different effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded, enhancing their level of effect. Alternatively, the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding redstone or glowstone dust to them.
Upgrades to your potion require a specific amount XP. This can be obtained through crafting them on a crafting table or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. The upgrade price varies depending on the type of potion and the item's rarity as well as Mark Level.
To upgrade a potion, click right on it in your inventory and choose the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open an GUI in which you can select the potions you wish to upgrade and the amount of XP they will give you when upgraded. Upgrades to potions can be made in batches of up to five at a time and the XP that they generate will be added to your current XP level.
Once a potion is upgraded, it will not degrade unless you make use of it again or break the bottle within the container it is stored. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will allow you to change the name of the potion.
Version 1.7.2 introduced a few changes to the mechanism of potions. For example the splash potions now have a duration of 0.08 seconds (this is not the same as the 22.5 seconds displayed on the hover display for the item). The table for potion can now be crafted with four Wood Planks and two Glass. It can be used in both Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions aren't compatible with cauldrons, as is the case with Java Edition. The same applies to using a potion within the cauldron that is filled. This will drain the potion and refill the bottle.
In addition, there are lingering potions that are made with dragon breath and splash potions. Redstone is also added to lingering potions to enhance their effect. The table of potions is laid out more in line with the Java Edition, and new potions were added, such as the potion of leaping, the decomposition potion, as well as turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket is a small and cheap ornament or piece of jewelry. It can also refer to an ornament or object that serves a function but is not important such as a Thimble. In some cultures a trinket is used to express friendship or affection between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons and potions, players can upgrade their trinkets. These can be upgraded by going to an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate currency. Trinkets like other items which can be upgraded can be swapped at will without losing statistics.
The upgrade vendors are located in major cities and the capital of each zone, as well as in some cases, dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of a rare trinket.
The upgrade of a trinket can be a cost-effective alternative to purchasing a new one. It can be done by players for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket has the same base level as the old trinket but will also have an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.
Trinkets can be re-upgraded once the old ones are no longer useful, allowing a player to increase their power and worth over time. They can also be traded between players, making them an attractive alternative to gold.
Players should upgrade their most essential items first. This means that the best-in slot items for each class are first upgraded before their secondary gear and other equipment that they won't be replacing anytime soon (such as a ring or an cloak). Players should also take into consideration their class's preferred stats when choosing which items to upgrade. For instance when Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tanks it is recommended that they upgrade their chest, helm, shoulders, and belt.
Trinkets can be re-upgraded to a higher ilvl once they no longer have value and the new trinket can be upgraded to have an additional bonus of 1% for upgrading. Re-upgrading will destroy the trinket unless it is salvaged using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades, but still less expensive than purchasing a new one.
